The Certified Personal Trainer course is designed for people who are interested in a career in fitness or those who want to train for improved personal fitness and exercise performance.
Working as a personal trainer is a very rewarding career and it provides a wide range of opportunities for working in the following areas:
Many Personal Trainers have the flexibility of working their own hours with payment rates based on the services they provide.
By completing this qualification, you’ll also be opening up opportunities as a fitness professional across South-East Asia and around the world, including a potential pathway to work in Australia.
The Certified Personal Trainer course is completed as a combination of online study and practical placement within a suitably equipped fitness facility.
The course has been designed to be completed in a 3 to 6-month timeframe, commencing whenever it suits you. The hours of study are flexible and you can fit it in around your other commitments.
The online component of the course includes access to an extensive range of learning resources including interactive presentations, videos and reference materials. You can contact our student support team as often as you like if you require assistance.
Throughout your course, you complete practical work in a fitness centre or PT facility to gain experience, perfect your skills and link with employers.
The course is assessed via the Practical Placement and a Final Examination.
There are no minimum timeframes which means you can work through it as quickly as you like. You have up to 12 months to complete the Certificate if needed.
There are 6 sections in the Certificate as follows:
Towards the end of your course, you are also required to complete 30 hours of Practical Placement in an approved fitness centre or personal training studio under the supervision of an experienced, practicing personal trainer.
Practical Placement helps develop your instructional skills, ability to identify/correct exercise techniques and provide customer service to clients. An evaluation from your supervisor forms a component of your practical placement assessment.
Only upon completing both of the Practical Placement AND the Final Examination will you be issued the qualification.
It’s also recommended that you check whether your country has registration, accreditation and insurance requirements for personal trainers. These additional requirements may be needed prior to you commencing work as a personal trainer.
